Support our Athletic Trainers
IPSF provides support for 5 athletic trainers, one at each comprehensive high schools. The major focus of the athletic trainer is to identify risk factors, prevent injuries, provide appropriate medical treatment, including rehabilitative services and referral support, and detect and correct health problems directly related to athletic performance, such as concussion risks.
A 2012 study by the American Academy of Pediatrics found that high schools with athletic trainers have lower overall injury rates. At schools without athletic trainers, recurrent injury rates were 5.7 times higher among athletes who played soccer and almost 3 times higher among those who played basketball.
Parent and community donations to IPSF help ensure that Athletic Trainers are available to serve our student athletes’ needs. None of this would be possible without your generosity. Thank you for making an impact on your child’s health and wellness with a contribution to IPSF.
