IPSF Raises $1.2 Million at Spirit of Excellence Gala
Irvine Public Schools Foundation (IPSF) hosted its highly anticipated annual Spirit of Excellence Gala on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the waterfront Balboa Bay Resort in Newport Beach. With over 300 guests in attendance, the evening showcased the incredible talents and achievements within the Irvine community, uniting business and community leaders, and dedicated supporters of public education. This year’s gala raised over $1.2 million to support innovative programs and classroom resources to benefit the 38,000 students of the Irvine Unified School District (IUSD).
The 2024 gala featured a host of new and exciting elements, beginning with an elegant craft cocktail reception that set the stage for an unforgettable night. Guests enjoyed a masterfully curated five-course dinner by Orange County’s celebrated chefs: James Hamamori, Sandro Nardone, and Amar Santana. Adding to the evening’s ambiance, guests were treated to a unique bourbon and whiskey tasting experience and enjoyed captivating performances by IUSD teachers and student musicians, showcasing the remarkable talent fostered in Irvine schools.
The evening’s highlight was a special live performance by Young the Giant, this year’s Excellence in Music Honoree and Spirit of Excellence Award recipient, recognizing their achievements as an inspiration to students and alumni alike.
“We are deeply honored to celebrate the exceptional accomplishments of our students and alumni, who exemplify the impact of an Irvine education,” said Neda Eaton, President and CEO of IPSF. “The Spirit of Excellence Gala shines as a beacon of community support for education and demonstrates how public-private partnerships can inspire young people to pursue their dreams and positively impact the world.”
Throughout the night, guests were moved by stellar performances from the students of Northwood High School’s Grammy-award-winning vocal music program, under the direction of Dr. Tyler Alessi, the school’s Choral Director. The performances embodied the strong arts education supported by IPSF, reflecting the organization’s mission to inspire the next generation of leaders and creators.
The gala was attended by notable community figures, including Daniel Hedigan, CEO of Fivepoint; Javad Mokhbery, President and CEO at FUTEK; Chef James Hamamori of Hamamori Restaurant & Sushi Bar; Chef Sandro Nardone of Bello and Sugo; and Chef Amar Santana of Broadway and Vaca and multi-platinum artists Young the Giant. Their presence underscored the unwavering community commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for Irvine’s 38,000+ students.
“The overwhelming support we received this year is a testament to the dedication Irvine has for its students and their futures,” said Eaton. “Thanks to our community, we are able to provide essential resources, innovative programs, and opportunities that foster curiosity, resilience, and excellence in our students.”
IPSF extends its heartfelt gratitude to all sponsors including FUTEK, Gorjana, MAD Collectives, FivePoint, Toyota of Irvine, Rutan and Tucker, UC Irvine, and Total Wine & More who made this year’s Spirit of Excellence Gala a success.
