A Home Run For Education!
July 18, 2019Irvine Public Schools Foundation (IPSF) teamed up with the Angels Baseball Foundation to host the 7th Annual Aces & Athletes Poker Tournament and charity casino night at the Exclusive Don Julio Club at Angel Stadium. The evening, chaired by Angels Hall of Fame pitcher Chuck Finley, included a lively poker tournament, casino games, dinner and cocktails and raised over $40,000 to help fund scholarships and crucial programs for students in need.
“It’s incredibly humbling each year to see heavy hitters from the world of sports and philanthropy come together in support of educational enrichment,” said Neda Eaton, President and CEO, IPSF. “The biggest winners of the evening, however, are the students. The funds raised from this event will provide scholarships for low-income students.”
This year’s athlete lineup included David Fletcher, current Los Angeles Angels third baseman; Justin Bour, current Los Angeles Angels player first baseman; Dain Blanton, AVP Pro Volleyball player, and former USA Olympic Gold Medal Beach Volleyball player; Jennifer Fopma, AVP Pro Volleyball player; Ty Buttrey, current Los Angeles Angels Pitcher; and Chester Burnett, former NFL linebacker.
IPSF welcomed an extended list of returning and new sponsors, that made this event possible. For a complete list, visit www.ipsf.net/poker.
