Celebrating Music in Schools

March 3, 2021

For more than 30 years, March has been officially designated by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) for the observance of Music in Our Schools Month® (MIOSM®), the time of year when music education becomes the focus of schools across the nation. At IPSF, our mission is to ensure equitable access to enrichment opportunities for each child in every school, which makes music education a natural priority. As one of the lowest-funded school districts in the nation, programs like music are at risk of being reduced or cut from Irvine schools without the support of IPSF.

Studies continue to prove that early exposure to music promotes collaboration and communication skills, creativity, self-expression, leadership, and overall improved academic performance. In order to provide a well-rounded educational experience, IPSF is committed to funding IUSD’s Primary Music Program, providing music education to students in TK through third grade. This program provides students with a solid foundation in musical concepts in a fun, supportive environment.

In addition, IPSF’s Instrument Rental program provides over 2,000 students annually with high quality musical instruments at affordable prices so they can pursue their passion for music. All proceeds earned from this program support music programs throughout the district.

IPSF is proud to support music in schools and is so grateful to the parents, community members, and corporations that donate to help keep music alive in our schools. To learn more please visit: https://ipsf.net/get-involved/parent-and-community-support/#keep-music-alive
