Out of the Box Learning & FunJune 1, 2022
It was a beautiful day in Irvine on May 22 as the community came together for the OC STEAM Fest… In a Box pick-up party. OC STEAM Fest…In a Box is the product of adaptive thinking and a shared passion to rally behind the students of Irvine to provide them with opportunities to explore STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math).
Combining the minds and energy of Irvine Public Schools Foundation’s (IPSF) team, STEAM educational specialists, and corporate partners, IPSF transformed what was previously a large, in-person STEAM Festival into an at-home family experience. The organization took great care in maintaining its purpose and attention to quality in providing STEAM activities to engage young minds with the magic of STEAM to create new avenues for them to further explore.
This year’s activity box included the Catapult Challenge, a Coding Robot, Contemporary Art project, and a STEAM Spy Kit.
To enhance the box pick-up experience, IPSF partnered with the Irvine Company to host a lively pick-up party filled with free family-fun entertainment at the Woodbury Town Center.
“It’s exciting to bring the community together to spark students’ interest in STEAM and provide them with new outlets to explore and discover from home,” said Neda Eaton, President and CEO of Irvine Public Schools Foundation. “Thanks to the support of our partners, this event raised over $100,000 to support IPSF programs that benefit the students of Irvine.”
We are so grateful to Google.org for its generous grant in support of OC STEAM Fest… In a Box. Our organizations both strive to continuously adapt and evolve, to remain at the leading-edge of our respective fields, while maximizing our benefit to the community. Thank you to Visionary Sponsor UPS, Innovation Sponsors Cox/Cox Business and Irvine Company, and to all of our generous supporters who helped make this project a reality!
